This month we spoke to Chander to see how she became a Machinist at Torque.<\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"Chandra-1000x650\"\n\t

Chander has worked for Torque for over 7 years. She is a machinist, working on the Spoke contract and alters their made to measure items for customers.<\/p>\n

She loves her role, and enjoys learning new skills. Read on to find out how she got into her role, what advice she would give to someone looking to do something similar, and who she would invite to her dream dinner party.<\/p>\n\t

\n\t\tA little about Chander\n\t<\/h2>\n

\n\t\tWhat’s your role and can you tell us a little about it?\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

I work as a Machinist on the Spoke contract, making alterations to chinos and their made to order items.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tHow long have you worked for Torque?\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

Just over 7 years, I will be coming up to my 8th year in September.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tWhat do you love most about your job?\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

Sewing is my passion so coming to work to do what I love makes me happy daily.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tHow did you end up in your current role?\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

I used to make my own clothes when I was a teenager and still lived in India. When I moved to the UK in 1989 I got a job working with my sister in law in the textiles industry and I have been a machinist ever since.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tWhat invaluable thing have you learnt in your role? \n\t<\/h2>\n\t

I have expanded my skills, I started with altering dresses and now I can alter a wide range of garments from jackets to suits to making garment changes such as zips and pockets.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tWhat’s the one piece of advice you could give someone who wanted to do your job?\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

You have to be very clean and concise in what you do, quality is always key as customers expect the best when they make purchases.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tHow do you think Torque go the extra mile for their customers?\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

We offer a wide range of services, however, if they require something that we currently don’t do they will expand in order to provide the customer with the requirements they need.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tCan you tell us a fun fact about yourself?\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

I have a keen interest in cooking and love to experiment and try and perfect my skills whenever I have the chance. Cooking Indian cuisines are my favourite.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t If you could invite 3 people (alive or dead) to a dinner party you were hosting, who would they be, and why would you invite them?\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

I would invite Gordon Ramsey as I love to watch his cooking programmes, Mary Berry as baking is not one of my strong points and I would love to develop on this, then finally I would invite Nargis, the late Bollywood film actress.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
