Each year we ask Torque employees to nominate charities close to their hearts and in their communities that they would like Torque to support. From these nominations our Senior Management Team select two, who become our chosen Community Partners for 12 months. Torque provide a \u00a35000 donation to each charity towards an agreed project and then spend the rest of the year fundraising further to help raise even more money for the charity.<\/p>\n

This year we received a wide range of nominations and we are excited to announce that our new Community Partners are Wakefield Riding for the Disabled<\/strong><\/a> and Rainbow Ward at Wigan Hospital<\/strong><\/a>. We would like to welcome them on board and we look forward to a great year of fundraising for such fantastic charities.<\/p>\n

Wakefield Riding for the Disabled <\/strong><\/p>\n

Established in 1990, Wakefield RDA provide horse riding for children and adults with a wide range of physical and learning disabilities, mental health issues or behavioural problems. The association helps improve students’ general health and well-being through equine therapy sessions and education programmes help young people gain qualifications, improve their confidence and lean key employability skills. Wakefield RDA is entirely self-funding, so every penny raised goes a long way to helping them continue the fantastic work they are doing for young people in their community.<\/p>\n

Project Pony<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the sad loss of two of their ponies in 2017, Torque’s donation will be used to buy a new horse for the organisation which can help take up the reins of its predecessors. We’ll be keeping you up to date with the project over the coming months, so keep your eyes peeled for more horsey updates.<\/p>\n

Rainbow Ward, Wigan Hospital<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rainbow Ward (part of the Three Wishes Charity) cares for children up to 16 years of age who have medical illnesses or require surgery. The ward has been designed specifically with children in mind, introducing colour and playtime wherever possible. Built around a huge kids’ playroom, it has had investment over the years to include specialist areas such as a sensory room.<\/p>\n

Project Teen Zone<\/strong><\/p>\n

Torque will be working with Rainbow Ward to provide a much needed ‘Teen Zone’ which gives older children a place to retreat and relax away from the hustle and bustle of some of the ward’s younger patients.
