It’s not every day your name ends up on a product—but for Talitha Granton, one of our Warehouse Administrators, that’s exactly what’s happened.

As part of their Jones The Bootmaker Autumn/Winter 25/26 collection, Pavers have named a new loafer style after her. The ‘Talitha’ Loafer, launching in June 2025, is a tribute to the support and consistency Talitha brings to her role—and the impression she’s made on the Jones team.

Why Talitha?

We spoke to the team at Pavers, who shared:

“She’s always been helpful and considerate, offering support with various tasks and issues. Her reliable work ethic stood out, and naming a style after her felt like an acknowledgement of her effort.”

They also recalled a standout moment:

“When I first started working at Jones, Talitha kindly took the time to show me around the warehouse. Her clear explanations and thorough overview helped me quickly understand the process. This was significant in developing my role. She is also always willing to help us with any problem that arises, big or small!”

Image

We caught up with Talitha to hear how she feels about the recognition and her experience at Torque.

What was your reaction when you found out a shoe was being named after you?

“I was very shocked to see they actually named a shoe after me! I was over the moon, very proud of myself. I couldn’t stop smiling about it—as having a unique name, I never had my name on anything. I'm still amazed by it now.”

What do you enjoy most about your role at Torque?

“I really enjoy being an admin. I love the challenges of getting everything completed before deadlines. I enjoy the people I work with—it wouldn’t run as well as it does without them. I’m very grateful for my team and everyone else who works hard in the warehouse.”

What’s one thing you try to bring to your work every day?

“Good spirit and positive attitude.”

Any advice for someone starting out in warehouse admin?

“Don’t be scared or stressed if it seems too complicated—you’ll become your own genius in no time. Becoming an admin gives you more opportunities to further your career and take a different path.”

Congratulations again to Talitha—and thank you to Pavers for recognising the value of everyday excellence.

Can you tell us a little about your role as a Supervisor?

My responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, managing customer communications, and leading a team. My work involves coordinating the activities of six departments in one of our Leeds Warehouses to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in our operations.

What does a day in the life of a Supervisor at Torque look like?

A typical day for me begins with a thorough review of our operational status, followed by planning daily workload and optimising our workflows. I engage with my team by having regular meetings to monitor progress and provide guidance, while also maintaining continuous communication with our customers to ensure their needs are met to the highest standards.

What do you love most about your job?

What I find most rewarding is the opportunity to make a solid impact on our operations and customer satisfaction. I enjoy leading my team to achieve and meet our targets. The dynamic nature of our work and the challenges it presents keep me engaged and motivated.

What invaluable things have you learnt in your role?

The importance of adaptability. The logistics sector is dynamic, with lots of changes and challenges. On a personal level, this role has honed my leadership skills, particularly in decision-making, problem-solving, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

How do you think Torque 'Goes The Extra Mile' or their customers?

I believe Torque meets the unique needs of each customer. Our approach involves a deep understanding of our customers' objectives, proactive communication, and the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.

This, combined with our extensive experience in the logistics sector, enables us to consistently exceed expectations.

How do you help to 'Make Our Service As Good As Can Be?'

I make sure that we are always seeking ways to optimise our processes and enhance our service. This includes regular training, adopting best practices, and always giving the best of me for the team and business.

How do you 'Create Strong Personal Relationships?'

I prioritise open and transparent communication, actively listening to feedback and showing genuine interest and respect for others' perspectives. Fostering trust and collaboration, which are critical for sustaining long-term professional relationships.

Will you share a fun fact about yourself?

I am the lucky owner of a miniature Dachshund and as big fan of this breed you can imagine... Everything in my house has a Dachshund theme on it! Starting with my pyjamas and ending with my coffee mug!

Why do you think someone should join Team Torque?

Joining Team Torque offers a unique opportunity to be part of a company that values innovation, excellence, and personal growth. It is an environment where hard work and dedication are recognised and rewarded, and where employees are encouraged to develop their skills and advance their careers. We’re shining a spotlight on our colleagues’ bright ideas!

We’re always looking for bright ideas to improve things at Torque, and through our Ideas Here scheme, anyone can submit their suggestions for improvements. If the idea gets taken on board, the employee with the bright idea is awarded £150!

Every quarter, we’re taking a closer look at an Ideas Here submission that we’ve implemented, and the positive impact it’s having on the business.

The Bright Idea

Earlier this year, Operations Manager James Senkiw submitted an idea to save both money and energy at our Castleford site.

The car park at Castleford uses street lamp-style lights at night, which worked on a PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor. This meant that the lights would switch on automatically when it got dark, and would stay on all night – even when nobody was on the site!

James’ idea was to look into ways we could keep the lights off after everyone has gone home, saving on electricity costs and making sure energy isn’t wasted.

The site closes at 10pm, so James suggested that we switch the lights off at 10:30pm, after all employees have gone home.

The Positive Impact

We implemented the idea earlier this year. Our experts in the Finance and Facilities teams have calculated, on average, how much money Torque can save by turning these lights off overnight: £573 per annum.

But this isn’t just about saving money. By saving power throughout the night, we can contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the Earth’s atmosphere. We’ve worked out that the power saved from switching the Castleford lights off at night could result in a reduction of approximately 12.7 metric tons of CO2 per year.

As James’ bright idea has proven, even the simplest ideas can have an important financial and environmental impact!

We’re proud to have a set of brand values and behaviours that make us different.

That’s why every month, Torque employees can nominate people in their team who bring one of these values or behaviours to life. Everyone then has the chance to vote for one person to be crowned Top Torque Teammate, and win £100!

Last month, we asked our colleagues to celebrate the teammates who really embody our “Efficient” brand behaviour, by nominating their most efficient peers. The winner of the final vote was Beata Sochacka, from our Wortley site!

Beata’s teammates describe her performance as “outstanding”. She has done a brilliant job of coordinating her contract, making sure that no time is wasted and that everyone is working in the best ways possible. She is well-organised, using her skills and knowledge to help her team perform even more efficiently.

Congratulations to Beata! It’s clear to see how much her team values her hard work.

This year, Torque employees working at supervisor level or above were invited to join the Leadership & Management Apprenticeship programme. The 13-month training course uses a mix of on-the-job learning, face-to-face workshops, and bite-sized virtual sessions to help colleagues get the best out of themselves and improve their leadership capabilities. Once the team have completed their training, they will receive a nationally recognised Level 3 Apprenticeship certificate.

We spoke to 4 Torque colleagues who have taken part in the apprenticeship scheme about how the course has helped them to develop their skills in successfully leading and managing a team.

I’m very pleased with how much I’m learning so far! I’ve learned new methods of management and communication with my colleagues, and how to improve my time management. The scheme has also helped me to figure out my strengths and weaknesses, and I know what I need to work on – we learn not only from our successes, but also from our mistakes. Every mistake teaches us what not to do next time.

How will the scheme help you with your role and career at Torque?

When I’ve finished my training, I would like to use everything I’ve learned from the course to maximise my potential as a leader. I’d like to use my improved confidence to build meaningful relationships and communicate effectively.

Torque Champions are members of staff who have volunteered to be their site's representatives for employee initiatives such as Sports & Social Club and fundraising. They play a vital role in supporting the business' employee engagement objectives and are an important sounding board, delivering their colleagues' ideas and opinions on key topics.

For our monthly Employee Focus, we've spoken to Rae Owens, Stephen Edwards and James Collins, who are Castleford Torque Champions. Read on to discover what inspired them to take on this important role and responsibility.

Rae Owens

Operations Supervisor

What is your role at Torque, and can you tell us a little about it?

I am an Operations Supervisor for Torque customers GLD and Bisley, leading the team that fulfil and despatch customers’ orders.

Why did you want to be a Torque Champion?

In my previous job, I was Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for 7 years. I led a team to promote awareness of local, national and global causes and charities, and interacted with the local community. Over the 7 years we managed to raise over £26,000 for several deserving causes.

I joined Torque 2 years ago and wanted to continue with fundraising events and wellness in the workplace. Post-Covid, I jumped at the opportunity to work with others to revive our colleagues’ involvement with fundraising efforts for those less fortunate than ourselves and the charities associated with them.

What’s your work superpower?

I am not a superwoman, but I have a positive, can-do attitude which I try to use to encourage and motivate others.

What parts of your role as a Torque Champion do you enjoy most?

Being a site advocate and liaising and brainstorming with other Champions on fundraising. Having the reputation for being approachable, many colleagues will put their ideas through me first, and then I will encourage them to pop them into the Ideas Here box in the canteen for the chance to win a voucher. I enjoy the preparation involved with planning the events and I am looking forward to this Christmas’ events!

Can you tell us something funny that’s happened to you at work?

Just recently I was giving the weekly brief and someone asked what was happening at our site on Monday 19th Someone shouted out (he was very sincere and sombre) that he wouldn’t be coming into work as his grandmother had died. I relayed our condolences and asked him to see his supervisor to arrange bereavement leave. At that, the entire team started laughing at my faux pas…he had been referring to “Everyone’s Nan”, our Queen!

IMG_20220922_134400

How do you think Torque go the extra mile for their employees?

Acknowledging that our colleagues are the workers on the coalface who can identify potential hazards, foresee any operational issues and make recommendations for improvement and highlight any of their outstanding teammates. To improve employee morale, we need to give them a voice and listen to them, which Torque does with our Ideas Here suggestion scheme and our Torque Teammate of the Month scheme.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Reading (mostly murders, mysteries and thrillers), listening to music (all genres ranging from Andre Bocelli to Lady Antebellum), and walking.

If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to a dinner party you were hosting, who would they be and why would you ask them?

Martin Luther King and Barack Obama would be on my list. It would give Obama a great opportunity to thank Mr King for his campaigning and fight against racism and desegregation, without which Obama would have never become President.

The third person I would invite would be a purely personal one. My youngest son took his own life in 2011 at the age of 25 and I would love to be given the opportunity to talk to him and ask him why and find out if there was anything I could have done to have stopped it. I would tell him all about his 3 children and how well they have done and how proud he would be.

Stephen Edwards

Quality Control Inspector

What is your role at Torque, and can you tell us a little about it?

I am the quality control inspector for the Finisterre contract at Castleford. When new stock arrives, it’s my job to check the size and quality of the stock we have received and report all findings.

Why did you want to be a Torque Champion?

To try and help people as best as I can. I know some people find it hard to speak up, so they can ask me and I will speak up for them where possible.

What’s your work superpower?

Not so much a superpower, but if there’s ever any fundraising on site, I like to think that I’m useful!

What parts of your role as a Torque Champion do you enjoy most?

Talking to my colleagues, and arranging for people to sign up to Sports & Social Club trips, such as our annual Torque 5-a-Side Footie Cup!

Can you tell us something funny that’s happened to you at work?

We had an incident where a Torque Horse lost its head and we went to hilarious lengths to keep it from the owner. It still has pride of place in the department… after some cosmetic surgery!

IMG_20220922_131712

How do you think Torque go the extra mile for their employees?

Schemes like the Sports & Social Club are great fun, especially since they provide cheap trips out at a discounted price for employees.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love to see live music, and going to see my beloved West Bromwich Albion play.

If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to a dinner party you were hosting, who would they be and why would you ask them?

Alice Cooper, Jeff Astle and Johnny Rotten. I am a huge Alice Cooper fan; I’ve seen him live 19 times and got to meet him once! Jeff Astle, my first hero back in the 60s, played for West Bromwich Albion and England. And Johnny Rotten… love him or hate him, you know who he is, and the Sex Pistols changed music forever.

James Collins

Team Leader (Imports)

What is your role at Torque, and can you tell us a little about it?

I am a Team Leader for Imports at Torque’s Castleford site. My role is to ensure all deliveries and collections, to and from the site, are correct.

Why did you want to be a Torque Champion?

I wanted to be a Torque Champion because I enjoy making people happy and motivating people.

What’s your work superpower?

I am a good motivator! I’m good at keeping morale and energy high, which I think is an important part of being a Torque Champion.

What parts of your role as a Torque Champion do you enjoy most?

As a Champion, I enjoy talking to people and having team members contribute ideas and suggestions to me.

IMG_20220923_081102

Can you tell us something funny that’s happened to you at work?

I once accidentally took the MHE (Material Handling Equipment) keys home with me, which resulted in my having to come all the way back to work to return them!

What do you like to do outside of work?

I like to go away on trips with my dog and my children.

If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to a dinner party you were hosting, who would they be and why would you ask them?

Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and Winston Churchill. I think the conversation would be hilarious, and people that are smart must know how to party!

]]>

As the Torque-sponsored Athleisure Award winner at the 2022 Fashanne Awards, Mia Fowler (Fashion Design graduate, NTU) was invited to Torque for a two-week internship. The first week was spent getting a crash course in all things third-party logistics and, importantly, showing how integral the supply chain process is to the fashion industry. We asked her to keep a diary of her time, which you can read below. Seeing the supply chain through a fresh pair of eyes and a designer's eyes specifically has been both insightful and energising.

It was a pleasure having Mia join our team for two weeks; she made quite an impact during her time with us, and she's already missed!

Monday 15th August

Day One: Welcome to work!

Today I was introduced to the world of work and had my first taste of what goes into supply-chain and providing the high level of service that Torque's customers need.

Everyone I met today was so friendly and welcoming, and everyone wanted to know more about me, my time at Torque and beyond. I couldn't have asked for a better start, especially since it's my first time working in such a large office with hundreds of staff.

Ollie Winstanley (Head of Business Relations) introduced me to the family-style brand values that make Torques. They want to make their 1300 employees as happy as possible as well as their customers. I saw this throughout the week when working with the marketing team, witnessing how much time and effort they put into employee satisfaction and engagement.

Before ever stepping foot into a workplace, I only really saw marketing as social media and content creating, but when working with the team at Torque I realised that it's more than that. It involves working with the employees to satisfy their needs and promoting the company through branding and internal and external promotion.

Tuesday 16th August

Supply chain: A giant jigsaw

After gaining my degree, I only really understood the design side of the fashion industry, so coming to Torque and seeing how each brand is processed and how their products are cared for is eye-opening.

Looking around the Thread section of the warehouse, I could feel how passionate the employees were; as Tanya showed me around, she encouraged 'bold' ways of thinking, supporting Thread's values.

Looking behind the scenes has allowed me to see how Torque works a little bit like a jigsaw puzzle. Each department comes together, fitting into place to create the whole supply chain picture and provide the best service for the customer.

Freight and fashion: a symbiotic relationship

Tuesday afternoon was spent with the freight and courier departments, and I got a fashion industry perspective that I'd never considered. Talking to Simon from Air Freight and then Brian from Sea Freight highlighted the differences between the two. Companies judge the freight times and prices in advance, which is why trend forecasting is so important, trends need to be decided upon months in advance so they can be in the warehouses in time for the season.

A crucial part of the Air Freight department was dealing with regular customers and building relationships, creating customer loyalty. Providing reliable services means that the customer will come back.

Simon demonstrated how demand affects the department. The more need there is for a product, the faster the customer wants stock. Due to the lead times, Sea Freight may not be suitable as the item may no longer be fashionable or selling as much by the time it arrives. Simon was so passionate about the company and allowed me to get involved, and I found this part of the supply chain exciting.

In comparison, Sea freight is used primarily for large quantities of stock but must be ordered months in advance, showing the importance of seasonal trend forecasting (i.e., predicting that khaki will be popular in 3 months to allow the supplier to ship in time for that season)

Essentially, a customer has to decide between speed and cost.

Courier: From click to consumer

Steve introduced me to the courier department, which is the other side of the journey to freight.

The courier department starts at checkout for the consumer, and this is where scanners and efficient planning is most valued! The systems used are essential to ensure the most effective way of working, keeping walking to a minimum and picking rates high. What I found amazing was the amount of walking the pickers do, with 10,000 steps being the minimum!

Each order sheet allows the picker to quickly find the order items, and the use of 'SKUs (unique product codes) ensures the correct items are packed.

The items are then packed beautifully and sent by the courier and service of the customer and consumer's choice (i.e., next-day delivery or 2-4 days), keeping everyone happy.

Wednesday 17th August

Employee Happiness: Mummy Marketing

Working with the marketing team has given me more understanding of Torque than anywhere else. Torque is like a massive family, with marketing being the organised parent who keeps everyone as happy as possible. Seeing their planning in the marketing content planning meeting and the effort they put into everything really puts the scale of the business into perspective and shows how much they dedicate to keeping everyone happy.

Customer Insights: Seeing Sweaty Betty

In the afternoon, I visited the Castleford site, where I was greeted by more helpful and committed staff. Ross gave me a tour of the warehouse, and he knew exactly how each customer worked and differed from one another, whether that be the way they're packed and stored or their return method with quality checks throughout every process. He showed me their dedication to efficiency with high-tech packing machines and smart storage.

I was allowed to shadow a Sweaty Betty warehouse operative who was very efficient and showed me in detail how effective their system is in ensuring that the Sweaty Betty customer has the correct items. Walking around with her put into perspective how much work is put into efficiencies in the warehouse.

I also witnessed how friendly everyone is, with most people knowing each other's names, especially in their department (no matter the size)!

Thursday 18th August

John introduced me to transport and how Torque moves stock all over the country. Something I would never have considered to be a big task was revealed to be one of the most planned out and complicated processes. Things like gaining an 'O Licence" (very important!…) or tracking vehicles, and dealing with unpredictable circumstances are all involved in the management of the Transport Department.

Procurement: parcels, paper and packaging, oh my!

Before my time here, I didn't even know what procurement meant; however, as soon as I saw Ann and Katie's desks, I knew that it was something to do with packaging as they were piled underneath stacks of packaging samples. Meeting with Ann, I learned a lot about how different brands require different things and laws requiring all plastic to be at least 30% recyclable.

FSC paper, messages on the packaging about recycling, ensuring that all packaging is recyclable, and sourcing items for the offices and warehouses are all part of the procurement process and ensure the Torque cust

omer has the best and most cost-effective service possible.

A designer's point of view on processing

My last department visit was processing. This is where my specialities lie. I was excited to look at the sewing machines, ironing boards, steaming, mould removal, ozone cleaning, metal detectors, and embroidery machines. I loved getting my hands dirty, CAT boots on and venturing into the Ozone machine. Seeing what Torque can offer their customers and the team's hard work in their roles demonstrates how valued each customer is.

The whole area runs smoothly, with products moving from quality control, to sewists, and then the rest of the team takes the items to hang and be steamed or ironed. A big part of this process is to ensure that only the smallest amount of waste occurs in the supply chain.

This department, in particular, demonstrated the small details put in, and from a designer's point of view, it has shown me what I would have to consider when considering the care of all the garments.

Friday 19th August

A new uniform for Torque

Using my design skills and new supply chain understanding I have been tasked with designing a sustainable Torque uniform for the business. Today I began work on the uniform, considering what I had seen throughout the week and issues and preferences the staff has raised about adaptions and updates.

Visit Fashanne Awards to learn more about the Fashion Designer of the Future Awards.

Steve Hill

What is your role, and can you tell us a little about it?

I’m a Business Development Manager, and it’s my job to provide our customers with flexible freight solutions. I help to identify where there might be opportunities to improve imports and exports for new and existing customers – at the moment, my main focus is on sea freight quotations.

How long have you worked for Torque?

I’ve worked at Torque for 10 months, but I wish I’d started working here 10 years ago! It’s the most positive working environment I’ve encountered in the industry. Torque is focused on how to make things the very best for both our customers and our workers – we’re all people at the end of the day, and Torque makes it easy for every person in every part of every process to understand each other.

What do you love most about your job?

I love that Torque is like an ants’ nest, with so many busy moving parts working together to create results. Everything has its own place and it all works on a scale like nothing I’ve ever seen before in freight forwarding. Compared to previous jobs, it’s like coming from the Stone Age into the Roman Empire!

What’s your work superpower?

I have a lot of empathy and respect for other people and the jobs they’ve got to do. Everybody is working on their own thing, and I’m good at building the bridges between people and between departments, making sure it’s as easy as possible for everyone to do their own work well.

What one piece of advice would you give someone who is interested in a similar role?

You help yourself when you help everybody! By taking the time to understand what everyone around you is doing in their own role, whether customer or colleague, you can work out the best ways to deliver the best results for everyone.

Can you tell us the funniest thing to happen to you at work?

At a previous job, a colleague thought they’d hidden my bike as a prank. It wasn’t until they saw me riding off that afternoon that they realised they’d stolen somebody else’s bike – and that it was on a trunker heading down to London!

What is your role, and can you tell us a little about it?

I work in Torque’s new Commercial Support team, assisting with the company’s commercial workflow from our brand-new Manchester office. We’re a small team so far, but I’m excited to see what the future holds!

How long have you worked for Torque?

I started at Torque just over a month ago! I’ve got a background in providing end-to-end export solutions in both air and sea freight, from providing a quote to completing and billing for a job, so I’m bringing a lot of useful knowledge and expertise to our new support team.

What do you love most about your job?

My favourite part of the job so far has been planning for the growth of our Manchester team. Starting a brand-new team in a brand-new area is a fantastic opportunity for expansion; and we’re always looking ahead at what’s to come.

What’s your work superpower?

I’m passionate about the jobs I take on from start to finish. Knowing that I can do a good job, and finding the best way to maximise profits, is what drives me to deliver for our customers.

How do you think Torque go the extra mile for their customers?

We have some brilliant systems in place, such as Torque Vision, that enable us to cater to our customers’ flexible requirements. Torque Vision really stood out to me, because it gives me and the customer complete visibility. I’ll always make sure to keep our customers updated on the progress of their import or export, but knowing that they can have oversight of a job at any time is an example of us taking that extra step to ensure a personalised experience.

What do you like to do outside of work?

In my spare time, when I’m not travelling or socialising, I love going to dance classes!

What is your role, and can you tell us a little about it?

I’m a Senior Operations Supervisor for our Sweaty Betty contract in Castleford. My job is to manage service levels, while looking for and actioning opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency across the contract. I also need to make sure that all jobs are being completed on time, to make sure our customer is happy!

How long have you worked for Torque?

My adventure with Torque started 7 years ago in Wakefield.

What do you love most about your job?

If you are hardworking and want to develop, Torque will give you the opportunities to do so. Torque really appreciates its employees; and if you show that you are brave enough to take more responsibility, you can really go far. I also love that I have always worked with wonderful people that I’ve become very close to over time. We’ve been in a lot of funny situations!

How did you progress into your current role?

Like a lot of people, I started working at Torque as a picker, for contracts including La Redoute. After a year, I became an admin who prepared corporate orders for another contract. I liked this job very much! Later, I got the position of Operations Supervisor on the same contract – in the meantime, my beloved son appeared in the world. After maternity leave, I decided to make the move from Wakefield to Castleford, and here I am on Sweaty Betty. At the beginning of the year, I became a Senior Operations Supervisor.

What opportunities has Torque given you to develop your career even further?

I’ve been given a great chance to broaden my horizons with the Torque Level 3 Leadership and Management Development Program. The scheme focuses on developing my people management skills, using these skills to help motivate employees, and understanding how good management supports the company’s performance. I will be involved in projects and completing online activities, which my manager will assess to make sure that I use the tips and knowledge I’m learning in my day-to-day work.

What invaluable thing have you learnt in your role?

I’ve learned a lot about myself and the kind of person I am. I did not know that I have such a strong personality. Moreover, I have learned that working in a team is one of the best opportunities for development. We can learn a lot from each other and count on ourselves at the same time. I am lucky to have been surrounded by very ambitious and intelligent people who have shared their valuable knowledge with me.

What one piece of advice would you give someone interested in a similar job?

Believe in yourself and your skills, and don’t be afraid to take risks! It’s better to regret something after you’ve tried it than to think “what if…”

How do you think Torque go the extra mile for their customers?

Torque personalises every customer’s contract based around their needs and offerings. We always aim to make the process as simple as possible from start to finish, and we are always on time no matter what! Working in my current role, I can see more than ever just how much Torque cares about every customer and works hard to meet their expectations. I know that our customers appreciate our cooperation with them and recommend our services to others.

Will you share a fun fact about yourself?

I’m addicted to buying high-heeled shoes. I probably have over 200 in my collection!

If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to a dinner party you were hosting, who would they be, and why would you ask them?

I’d like to invite people like Jeff Bezos, Larry Page and Sergey Brin to dinner. Jeff became the richest person in the world thanks to his hard work and enormous intelligence. Online sales are an integral part of our everyday life. Larry and Sergey, who founded Google, humble me with their EQ & IQ. They’ve created great working conditions and their creativity is something that attracts millions of people to their company.

What is your role, and can you tell us a little about it?

As Recruitment Coordinator, my job is managing the end-to-end recruitment process! This includes arranging interviews, attending job fairs, providing feedback to candidates, and helping our new starters to feel welcomed by Torque.

How long have you worked for Torque?

I’ve been a part of our Human Resources department for 7 months now, but I used to work as an agency representative on-site at Torque. I enjoyed interacting with the business so much that when the opportunity arose to join, I grabbed it with both hands!

What do you love most about your job?

I attend job fairs where I get a chance to promote the business locally and speak to potential candidates. I find it very satisfying when the successful candidate is offered a position, and I really enjoy inducting new starters into the business, as I can help them settle in to their roles.

What invaluable thing have you already learnt in your role?

Teamwork is absolutely vital. In our HR and Recruitment teams, we know that if anybody needs assistance with anything, there is always someone willing to help out as much as possible.

What one piece of advice would you give someone interested in a similar job?

Stay positive and don’t give up. Working in recruitment can sometimes be hard and frustrating, but there’s no better feeling than finding the right candidate and securing them a placement.

Can you tell us the funniest or most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you at work?

Some of the excuses that candidates have given for not turning up to interviews, such as the death of a favourite fish, have been bizarre! The most interesting thing to me is learning how to deal with the challenging situations that arrive daily. It is safe to say that no two days are ever the same.

How do you think Torque go the extra mile for their employees?

At Torque, we invest in our employees by giving them opportunities to develop their skills and career paths. Our HR department works in partnership with line managers on performance management, employee relations, resourcing, and staff training and development. All of these things can help our employees to progress into a long and rewarding career.

Will you share a fun fact about yourself?

When I was younger, I was part of a girl band and we used to perform at our school and local fairs. It wasn’t until I was older that I have realised that I must have been really bad, as when going through old photos I noticed that I was the only one that wasn’t allowed to hold a microphone…

If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to a dinner party you were hosting, who would they be, and why would you ask them?

Stieg Larsson, J.R.R. Tolkien and Jo Neso, to have an in-depth discussion about their books!
